High speed inkjet technology chosen to support production efficiency

Print mass customisation leader Cimpress and Ricoh have confirmed their commitment to collaboration with the order of a RICOH Pro VC80000 high speed webfed inkjet press. The deal was agreed on Ricoh’s drupa 2024 stand, Hall 8a, Messe Düsseldorf, Germany.

The technology platform will support Cimpress’s business VistaPrint as it continues to develop its broad application expertise and streamline production with greater automation at one of its lead factories. VistaPrint will also deploy Predictive InsightTM.

The Pro VC80000 is designed to produce exceptional quality direct mail, colour books, catalogues, magazines, and general commercial print applications on a wide range of media up to 300gsm. It delivers increased automation of production, print quality control, and communication with many AI, machine learning, and data analysis features that ensure predictable and repeatable output with minimal operator intervention.

The latest investment builds on Cimpress’s adoption of toner-based technologies, including the RICOH Pro™ C9500 within the group’s European operations.

Robert Keane, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Cimpress: “Customer service is central to everything we do, which is why we are collaborating with Ricoh, a company with a similar dedication to the customer experience. Working together, we have been able to identify a powerful production solution in the form of the Pro VC80000, which supports our responsiveness and efficiency, providing what our customers need when they need it.”

Koji Miyao, President, Ricoh Graphic Communications & Senior Corporate Officer: “We are delighted that a company so experienced in high speed inkjet is investing in Ricoh’s flagship high speed inkjet system. Our worldwide collaboration with Cimpress is based on the principle of Co-innovation. Both parties collaborating for a mutually successful future. The dedicated global team approach that we provide to our global partners like Cimpress has been instrumental to the continuing success of this flourishing partnership.”
