Company:
Priory School Lewes is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive school in East Sussex with around 1,200 pupils and 150 staff. Priory School delivers high-quality teaching and achieves above-average results, but a slow, unreliable network hindered the school’s ability to complement education excellence with digital technology.
Challenge:
The existing IT network was outdated and unable to support more powerful computing equipment and demanding applications. The wi-fi was weak while some parts of the site had no wi-fi at all. Even for wired PCs, switching and logging on was slow because of poor network capacity which frustrated staff needing access to learning documents and information. A key priority was supporting the 25% of pupils with some level of Special Educational Needs.
The Solution:
Priory School has deployed a Ricoh Network Infrastructure Solution comprising a secure and agile network, wi-fi and cabling refresh. The solution adheres to the Department for Education’s ‘Connect the Classroom’ infrastructure standards to help schools to adopt fast, secure, and reliable networks. PCs that struggled with poor connectivity have been replace and upgraded to Windows 11 to make full use of the fast, reliable network.
