IT managed service providing pro-active maintenance and support for Vodafone’s infrastructure on which 10,000 staff and millions of customers rely

Vodafone Case Study

Innovative. Responsive. Flexible. This terminology is often used to describe the radical 11th biggest global brand that is Vodafone, the worldwide communications company. But in this case, these are the terms Vodafone’s Vendor Manager, Heidi Godfrey-Jones, chooses to describe the Ricoh team and their contribution to Vodafone’s success at their Newbury HQ.

Vodafone has always been ground-breaking, and in the area of supplier sourcing and management they have taken a similarly radical approach. “Squeezing supplier cost is an obvious route when you need to manage operating expenses, but in isolation it’s not the most effective strategy,” explains Heidi. “We’ve developed more of a value-driven approach, working with partners where we get more value from them taking a more pro-active contributory role. We pull together logical groupings of equipment and services into what we call a ‘bundled service’, which reduces the number of suppliers, and by consolidating we can appoint a single supplier across all these areas to deliver greater value. The focus is not solely on SLAs, we’ve defined new KPIs to measure the incremental value we can achieve, as well as the pro-activity of our partners.”
