Chemicals Under Our ControlAs far back as 1993, we set ourselves tight standards for environmentally-sensitive substances used in our products, well before legislation demanded so. These standards have been continuously updated ever since, incorporating the latest regulations and scientific knowledge. All production divisions (design, procurement, and manufacturing) have jointly worked to improve our chemical substance control system. When the global chemical substance management system (CSMS) was introduced in March 2006, the control system within the Ricoh Group was strengthened even further and by July of that same year we completed building a company wide Chemical Substance Management System. In order to comply with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation in 2007, we began developing a communication system to ensure that vital chemical substance information is communicated to every corner of the supply chain. We plan to eventually manufacture products containing no environmentally sensitive substances whatsoever and we will continue our efforts to enhance the chemical substance control system that covers the entire production flow, including suppliers. |
