Ricoh drives business efficiencies with ‘intelligent scanning’

Ricoh introduces GlobalScan NX, its digital scanning and distribution software

London, UK, 29th January 2010 – Ricoh introduces GlobalScan NX, the digital scanning and distribution software that helps businesses to increase productivity, lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and drive environmental efficiencies by streamlining workflow and paper trails.

When integrated with Ricoh’s extensive range of multifunctional devices, this user-friendly solution streamlines document management processes resulting in more effective conservation of business resources, freeing organisations to focus on what they do best – driving profitability.

Productivity benefits
GlobalScan NX allows employees to easily customise or pre-set document formats and destinations themselves. Documents can be shared instantly, using a one-step ‘select-and-go’ scanning process. It also digitises and sends documents to virtually any network location such as network folders, email and fax destinations. Furthermore, the files can be quickly tracked, archived and searched for, anywhere on the network. The integrated ‘failover’ system (a backup GlobalScan server) can be called upon if a company’s main server fails, allowing employees to work throughout server downtime and ensuring business continuity.

Environmental and TCO benefits
GlobalScan NX allows for fast storage and retrieval of documents, taking the hassle out of document management, minimising the ‘paper trail’ and reducing energy consumption and paper wastage, promoting cost and environmental efficiencies. Furthermore, GlobalScan NX has advanced security options, which can be implemented for organisations needing to safeguard sensitive documents.

Neil O' Donoghue, Ricoh Product Manager comments that: “As the volume of information shared electronically grows, companies are increasingly under pressure to manage the flow of information, for security, TCO and environmental reasons. GlobalScan NX is a flexible, dependable and scalable way to simplify the integration of paper documents into digital workflow, increasing employee productivity and driving efficiencies throughout the organisation.”

Available as both Serverless and Server editions, GlobalScan NX is a scalable solution that can integrate seamlessly into all business environments, from start-ups and SMBs to large organisations.

About Ricoh UK

Ricoh designs, develops and manufactures a complete range of print and document management, hardware, software and services which are tailored to meet individual customer needs.  Its devices print, copy, scan and fax documents as an integrated part of the IT network and enterprise content management system.  Software is used to audit usage, manage document flows, simplify business processes, control print expenditure and secure access.  The company takes an innovative approach to research and development, having invented the first digital black & white copier and introducing the colour-capable device.

Ricoh established an Environmental Protection Office in 1976, and has been striving to minimise the effect of its activities on the environment ever since. Ricoh UK’s environmental credentials are second to none; it operates a zero-waste policy at all of its manufacturing plants and is investing in carbon reduction technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its operations rather than merely offsetting its carbon footprint. The company operates a dedicated ‘Green Centre’, where old machines are re-commissioned and recycled in line with WEEE Directive guidelines and accredited with ISO14001:2004 for environmental management. Ricoh has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and, for the fifth consecutive year, has also been named as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by the World Economic Forum in Davos.
