The UK Excellence Award aims to identify organisations that have significantly improved business performance and increased competitiveness. Winning the award is one of the highest accolades any organisation in the UK can achieve. Following their evaluation of Ricoh the assessing team concluded, “Ricoh UK Products Ltd has clearly demonstrated its manifestly high-level of excellence throughout the assessment. It has clearly shown continuing improvement and success since 2005 when it won the UK Excellence Award. This is exemplified by its superbly clean, well organised factories at Telford and Wellingborough”
Also acclaimed was its approach to corporate social responsibility, the assessors said, “Approaches to society are particularly comprehensive and the results are consequently strong. Sustainability approaches are particularly strong through C02 reduction, zero waste to landfill and energy reduction.”
Regarding people development and involvement the assessors concluded, “Ricoh UK Products Ltd has implemented clear and sound approaches to people management. This results in a totally pervasive and dynamic culture of continuous improvement which captures the hearts as well as the minds of the employees.”
Ricoh UK Products Ltd provides a range of production and recycling services for businesses across Europe including Ricoh’s first European direct delivery production printer, the Pro C900. It also demonstrates the company’s ability to continuously improve across all areas of the business.

About Ricoh
Ricoh established an Environmental Protection Office in 1976, and has been striving to minimise the effect of its activities on the environment ever since. Ricoh UK’s environmental credentials are second to none; it operates a zero-waste policy at all of its manufacturing plants and is investing in carbon reduction technologies to reduce the environmental impact of its operations rather than merely offsetting its carbon footprint. The company operates a dedicated ‘Green Centre’, where old machines are re-commissioned and recycled in line with WEEE Directive guidelines and accredited with ISO14001:2004 for environmental management. Ricoh has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and, for the fifth consecutive year, has also been named as one of the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by the World Economic Forum in Davos.

About the British Quality Foundation UK Excellence Awards
The UK Excellence Award (UKEA) was launched in 1994 to recognise organisations which have excelled when measured against a framework of excellence, the Excellence Model. The Model is used successfully throughout Europe and beyond as a rigorous external structure to examine an organisation's current capability.
UKEA is the highest accolade to be gained nationally, ideal for organisations progressing from internal assessment, through their regional Award process, and ultimately gaining national recognition. The application process provides invaluable detailed feedback to all applicants to help on their journey to Excellence.
There is no doubt that applying for the UK Excellence award is a challenge but when things are not easy, you need to look at what you do, how you do it and who you do it for"
