Ricoh launches new widgets for Document Management Solution App2me®

London, 22 March 2011 – Ricoh UK today announced three new widgets for App2Me® – an innovative technology that personalises and simplifies complex workflows, seamlessly integrates multiple applications, and maximises productivity by allowing users to bring their workflow wherever they go. The three new widgets – Scan to Evernote®, Scan to Gmail™ and Scan to Google® Docs – give users a convenient and direct connection from Ricoh multi-function products (MFPs) to the cloud.

Today, over 30 million people use Google services, such as Gmail and Google Docs, and there are more than four million Evernote users. “At Ricoh, our approach to customer driven innovation means that we able to offer a solution that fits with these tools,” said Helen Berentzen, Office Solutions Marketing Manager, Ricoh UK. “App2Me was designed to enable our customers to maximise how they use their Ricoh multi-function product in a way that is easy, intuitive and convenient. These new widgets broaden the solutions we are providing to our customers to help them improve their workflows.”

App2Me provides functions in widget form, enabling multi-function products (MFP’s) to be used in conjunction with cloud computing services that offer business applications over the Internet. Available on Google Desktop™, App2Me was first featured on Ricoh’s Aficio® MP 2851 and MP 3351, and is also available on the new Aficio MP 4001/MP 5001 Series and other Ricoh MFPs.

App2Me offers users convenience and personalisation, even on shared multifunction devices. With App2Me, users can print, scan and perform various functions using individual settings that don’t affect the MFP’s overall settings, maintaining personalisation and convenience. To activate the solution, users first download the App2Me Manager and widgets to a desktop PC or laptop running Google Desktop. Once installed, the App2Me Manager automatically discovers all App2Me-enabled MFPs on the network and communicates with those devices adding the user’s profile, as well as the widgets the user has downloaded. Users can go to any of these devices to execute their widget based workflow.  

Designed not only to reduce process and complexity for the user, App2Me also improves workflow. Through App2Me’s innovative technology, widgets can be created to combine, distribute, edit and create documents, as well as perform many other tasks automatically and simultaneously. The user benefits by having these settings programmed once locally, which greatly reduces the need for trial-and-error printing, scanning, etc., as well as saves time. App2Me maximises MFPs beyond printing and scanning by providing a variety of options to output data on paper. In addition, App2Me can connect to web-based services or network business applications to publish scanned information.
